Rachel Nelson-Smith

Rachel Nelson is a bead artist and jewelry designer whose work is filled with bold shapes and vibrant colors. As she colors outside the lines, her pieces are alive with enormous energy and dynamism. With needle and tools in hand, this positive and creative attitude allows her freedom to express thoughts as they happen--with wide use of color and energy she produces spontaneous and positive expressions.

Rachel's work has been displayed at the Milpitas Museum, the Santa Cruz Metro Center, and other locations in the California Bay Area and beyond serving as samples for workshops she has taught since 1996. Her original project Prickly Beaded Bead was a featured project in Bead & Button Magazine, August 2003. Future B∓B articles will include Creeping Tendril Clasp (February 2004), Rachel's Netted Necklace (April 2004), and Double Eyelet Wire Chain (June 2004), as well as a photo inclusion of her sculptural peyote piece Nashville Topple (June 2004).

Finding inspiration in nature, color, and the beads themselves, Rachel creates pieces reflecting the world she sees around her. Residing in Santa Cruz, California, she endeavors to spread beauty and peace through her unique brand of adornment.
